Ukrainian universities are taught to earn from their research

How to identify the basic cost of any research project, make contacts with manufactures, who owns the rights to scientific studies as intellectual property… These issues were discussed at the international seminar "Building the culture of innovations in Universities" in Odessa. The organizers are a consortium of the TEMPUS UNI4INNO («Universities for Innovations") project participants from the European Union and the I.I. Mechnikov ONU.
Many European universities, besides research departments, have structural units that provide information exchange and contacts with the enterprises-manufacturers. As a consequence - a society gets high technology products principally faster than in Ukraine, and universities receive strong financial support. The aim of the project "Universities of Innovations" (2010-2013) – is to introduce a new system of research and development management in Ukrainian universities.
It is assumed that as result of this project a coordination office will be established, which will ensure effective dialogue between business and universities. Participants of the project: the I.I. Mechnikov ONU, NAU (Kharkiv), LNPU (Lvov), DGIA (Kramatorsk) NMAU (Dnepropetrovsk), the Crimean Humanitarian University (Yalta). The project is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Kiev Chamber of Commerce, the Ukrainian State Institute of Innovative Technology. Sharing their knowledge and skills is the aim of representatives of the leading universities, who came to Odessa from Sweden, Italy, Austria and Spain.
The topic of the next seminar in the framework of the project is "The implementation of measures to support innovation and the sharing of knowledge." It is scheduled for January 24-27 of next year in Gothenburg (Sweden) at the Chalmers University.
