ONU team won the Odessa students’ table tennis championship

The I.I. Mechnikov Odessa National University team won the Odessa table tennis championship. ONU athletes beat 18 other teams, winning five gold, two silver and one bronze medal.
Truly the “golden racket” of ONU is the master of sports Anna Farladanskaya: a philology student, who won individual gold, and the other gold medal she earned was in the mixed couples competition in pair with Alexiy Degtyarev, and silver – coupled with Christina Grishilova (Geology and Geography). The highest step of the honors podium was also occupied by winners of the men’s doubles – Aleksiy Degtyarev (Physics) and Vadim Abramovich (Chemistry). Vadim Abramovich also earned a bronze medal in the men’s singles competition.
“The special trait of a university team is that every 5 years it fully renews its players – said the tennis coach Victor Pilipchuk.- This year the team of I.I. Mechnikov ONU was playing in the new lineup, but still we became champions – for the twelfth time.” The gap between us and our nearest competitor – the team of the Polytechnic University was almost 70 points. The Medical University finished the competition in third place.
The annual table tennis championship of Odessa among higher education institutions is held during the general sports competitions among universities and colleges. The I.I. Mechnikov ONU has been holding the victory palm since 2000.
