An internship in Europe: the choice was made

Twelve students of the I.I. Mechnikov ONU will be studying in universities of Greece, Lithuania, Poland, Germany and Finland. The European Union will cover the 6-10 months’ scholarships for Odessa students (each amounting to approximately 1000 Euro monthly) as part of the “Erasmus Mundus – Action 2” program.
The internship candidates were chosen by a group of international experts based on applications. Important criteria for the choice of candidate were their motivation and a clear vision of practical realization of their obtained knowledge. Every fifth student of those who filed applications will take part in the program as result of this choice.
“The object of my scientific research was the culture of Finnish and Hungarian peoples, the specialty of their functioning of separate groups (saami), that is why I chose the University of Turku in Finland as my internship destination” – says a History Department student Anna Kotova. – The Goal of my research – is to conduct through analysis of the politics of these states regarding ethnical minorities and native peoples.” Among scientific interests of other winners there are studies of political processes in post-communist Eastern and Central European countries, studying problems of social and psychological adaptation of teenagers, etc.
All students are obliged to return to their home country after the internship for the implementation of the obtained knowledge and skills, - this is one of the terms and conditions of the program. A foreign internship for ONU students will start in September of this year.
