From Shenzhen with a victory

  ONU student Anna Farlandskaya, member of the Ukraine national team, won the fifth place in team classification at the World Universiade in Shenzhen.
  Anna is a student of the Philology Department and master of sport in table tennis. She is the only representative of southern Ukraine in this tournament. Ukraine was represented also by Polina Trifonova (Donetsk) and Margarita Pesotskaya (Kyiv).
  “Asians move two times faster in ping pong than European sportsmen, and Americans and Australians can’t show off great mastership”, - noted the sportswoman. The ONU master of sports had 15 competitions at this Universiade, and competed with girls from Japan, Sri Lanka, Romania, Spain, China and other countries. The Universiade hosted a total of 30 national
women’s teams from different countries.
  Anna Farlandskaya is now preparing for future competitions along with her teammates – The Eurocup in France is scheduled for October, 2011. The next Worldwide Universiade will be hosted by Kazan in 2013.
  The Universiade is a sporting tournament among students, organized by The International University Sports Federation (FISU). It is often referred to as “Worldwide Student’s Games”, and “Worldwide University Games”. The event is held every two years. Students and post-graduates aged 17 to 28 are eligible for participation.
