It was hot in the Odessa University Concert Hall on Wednesday. The dances of flaminglions, fiery gopak, “Farewell of Slavianka” – the audience
had no chance to be bored. The festive concert celebrated the 20th anniversary of establishment of a diplomatic relationship between Ukraine and PRC and 63 years since the Foundation Day of the People’s Republic of China
“Since the 1950’s students from China have been studying at the Odessa University, – states the I.I. Mechnikov ONU rector Professor Igor Koval. – Currently of over 400 of our foreign students, almost one third is native to this country. We are proud that our ties with PRC over the years of Ukrainian independence have been growing stronger and now we continue to support and develop these relationships in different fields.”
The evidence that close and fruitful cooperation will continue in the future is the joint announcement, made by the Consul General of PRC to Odessa U Syaoin and Rector Igor Koval: The first in Odessa Center of Chinese Culture will open in the new Building of ONU in a few weeks.
The concert was made possible by the joint effort of the I.I. Mechnikov ONU and the General Consulate of China in Odessa.
